Hedy Lamarr!!

Hedy Lamarr was a gorgeous screen star and amateur inventor, was once married to a Nazi munitions dealer. Her most important invention (with George Antheil, a composer and musician) was spread-spectrum radio, they originally invented it as a way of creating a jam-proof missile guidance system in an effort to foil the Germans and Japanese during WWII, which if it had not been invented, we would not have today’s cell phones, GPS & millions of other devices we now rely on every day. This fascinating book is set to be published on 11/29/11, written by Pulitzer-Prize winning author Richard Rhodes.  There is a lot of heavy-duty science in here, but the story of Hedy’s life and intellect is fascinating!

Looking forward to reading this. I knew something about her being an inventor-didn’t realize just how important she was! What a life!
