“A Trick of the Light”

Louise Penny’s new mystery is has elevated the level of mystery writing to a new level. For those who crave escape will not be disappointed, nor will those who appreciate sharp, intelligent writing. She weaves her story in a non-linear way, in clear insightful prose. I am going to go back and read all her previous works.

Her Inspector Gamache mysteries take place in French Canada, this one, and previous ones in a small picturesque village, Three Pines, so small it is not found on any map, filled with unique characters as most villages are (I know from experience). I urge all to check out “A Trick of the Light”, even if you don’t read a lot of mysteries, the writing is that good!

I look forward to reading this-love a well written mystery-and I identify with characters living in a small village too!
